Simple Ways to Swap Dairy with Nondairy

I believe it is important to try to eat and be as healthy as possible. One concern in diet for me is dairy consumption. I have realized through doing juice fasts and reintroducing food into my diet that dairy is something I try to limit. I have noticed over consumption for me wrecks havoc on my stomach. I have since started switching out milk with other alternatives. My family has been doing the same as well. I really feel these changes have helped with my stomach issues and has helped me reach to a better place with my health. A great option for a milk alternative is Almond Milk.
Almond Milk is a rich nutty milk. It is really a great alternative. I suggest starting the switch small. Instead of milk or cream in your coffee try the almond milk. It is such a sweet treat.Switch the milk in your morning cereal to almond milk and taste the difference. Its worth the switch and I suggest trying it out for a week or two and see if you notice a difference. I still enjoy dairy but love complementing nondairy into my diet as well. What are your thoughts on dairy alternatives?

Taco Tuesdays with Sriracha Blue Diamond Almonds

I have heard a lot about Sriracha sauce but have never actually tried it out myself. I was very interested when Blue Diamond sent me some Sriracha Almonds to try out. Being a newbie to Sriracha I was nervous and excited at the same time.  I wanted to incorporate the new Blue Diamond almonds into a recipe. I decided they would be a perfect addiction to our Taco Tuesday tradition. Taco Tuesday id fun since everyone gets to pick the toppings they want. It rally makes for a great family meal. I chopped the Sriracha almonds up to use as a new topping.
A fun take on Taco night is I use small tortillas and then I add beans(meat for some family members)olives,tomato/salsa,and cheese. I then throw them in a preheated oven at 350 degrees.Picture below before put in the oven.
After a quick 5 minute or so in the oven I take them out to add the lettuce, sour cream if wanted, and the Sriracha almonds.  Above shows the finished product. You can choose what toppings and mixings you use. It is such a great fun meal and everyone is happy since they customize it. I LOVED the added addiction of the Blue Diamond Sriracha almonds. It truly added a bold flavor that you can taste but is not overpowering. It is a definite keep for a topping addition to Taco Tuesday.

Almond Nut Thins & Celebrating Summer & 4th of July

Blue Diamond provided me with complementary boxes of the new Blue Diamond almond nut thins. With school closed for the summer it is so important to have fun summertime snacks and recipes. I try to make snacks healthy and tasty. With five kids at home it can be hard to get them all to eat the same snacks sometimes. The Blue Diamond almond nut thins have so many advantages. They are:
-made with real almonds
-wheat and gluten free
-low calorie
-good source of protein
-4 great favors:original,honey mustard, chia seeds,sea salt
They taste great plain or with a topping of your choice. I decided to have a little fun and make a cute patriotic themed recipe with them. I sliced strawberries and used them as the bottom layer.I then added a small amount of whipped cream. Then topped off with a blueberry. They look great for a fun festive 4th of July appetizer. The finished product!

Summertime Sundaes with Sea Salt and Dark Chocolate Blue Diamond Almonds

Blue Diamonds provided me with samples of their new flavored almonds: sea salt and dark chocolate.
The first idea that popped in my idea is ice cream with almonds, my favorite. With the summer coming this is a great time to come up with different ice cream recipes. I love vanilla ice cream topped with fresh chopped almonds. The dark chocolate and sea salt flavors combined is a perfect mixture.
This adds such a healthy and tasty topping to the best summertime treat! Enjoy and follow Mom's with extra cent's Pintrest page for more great recipes.
